The Public Works Supervisory Academy is a nine-class program that provides first and second-line supervisors with the tools to be effective managers. Knowledgeable and experienced instructors provide up-to date information, as well as opportunities to practice skills and to problem solve with other participants.
The nine classes that comprise the Public Works Supervisory academy are:
- Basic Management for Public Works Supervisors
- Customer Service in Public Works
- Equipment Use & Workplace Safety
- Local Government Fundamentals
- Improving Communication Skills
- Leadership Skills for Supervisors
- Human resources (HR) Basics for Non-HR Professionals
- Management Assessment for Personal and Planning Development
- Purchasing & Inventory Control

All classes are offered each calendar year. You can take classes in any order and you can enroll in individual sessions without enrolling in the entire Academy. Wisconsin LTAP offers the Public Works Supervisory Academy in cooperation with UW – Madison Interdisciplinary Professional Programs and Wisconsin Chapter-APWA.
